Trimethylglycine in each vegan TMG capsule is a compound initially considered to be betaine – an amino acid and a derivative of glycine, one of the simplest protein amino acids. It is a natural ingredient of gastric juice that performs an important function – it is primarily responsible for absorbing calcium, proteins, iron particles and vitamin B12 from food. The sources of trimethylglycine can be found both in plants (mainly beetroot) and in food of animal origin.
Research is currently underway to finally answer the question of whether trimethylglycine can make the following health claims:
• protection of cells against stress,
• increase in strength and change in body composition (regarding 6-week Betaine supplementation),
• reduction of adipose tissue (for women undergoing supplementation).
The final results of scientific researches on TMG are not yet known, and they are currently underway on the actual effects of trimethylglycine to confirm these properties. However, it is already known that trimethylglycine can be supplied to the body through a balanced diet and produced from choline. However, to obtain its additional source, supplementation can be introduced with the help of products such as TMG food supplement from Body Union.
